A major municipal transit authority was having a problem with their 60ft articulated buses.
The exterior side panels beside the wheel wells on either side of the articulated sections were aluminum.
The rest of the bus frame was stainless steel. The side panels were being heavily corroded by road salt and
other roadside corrosive materials. Replacement rates for the panels were every nine months! We suggested that
the exterior panels be manufactured using Protectolite™ Inc's compression moulded, Series 1014 anti-corrosion
sheet. For esthetic reasons we also incorporated our "no glass print" surface so that the side panels matched
the rest of the stainless steel exterior. 5 years later the same panels are still in use. Due to the expansion
of this municipality, they now require additional buses. They have insisted that Protectolite™ provide the
same series 1014 panels for the new fleet!
