Protectolite's™ specialty is the ability to manufacture solid, homogeneous, one-piece moulding of sheet laminates. We are the only manufacturer who provides thickness from 1/32" to 6", in sizes from 37"x73" to 48"x96" sheets with production capacity up to 16'x6'. Custom sizes are available upon request.
Protectolite™ sheets are approved and used by all the major electrical companies in North America. Please contact us for our references, we will be glad to provide them!
We offer fiberglass reinforced polyester laminates manufactured in matched metal moulds using high pressure and heat. These sheets display excellent fire and carbon track resistance, as well as punching and machining characteristics. These sheets meet or exceed NEMA Standards and many grades are UL listed.
We are ready to review any custom part requirement or fabricated part currently made from sheet stock that could be custom molded. A custom molded part can enhance the electrical insulation, arc & track resistance, and physical strength provided by our electrical sheet composite materials. Most end use sheet products can be custom molded for added advantages such as threaded inserts, part consolidation, elimination of cuts and exposed edges. The only issues being lead time, tooling costs and the anticipated life of the part to be custom molded.

Electrical Sheet Details
For over 40 years Protectolite™ has manufactured an extensive range of NEMA Electrical Grade Sheet.
- GPO-1, MB1100FS ( UL Listed file# E132409) – General purpose electrical grade sheet.
- GPO-1P Series1020 P & 1020 UV - Punching Grade and exterior UV electrical grade.
- Class "F", 155C/165C: MB1200FS – High strength and structural integrity under heat, cold and pressure. Applications include terminal boards, motor wedges, brush plates and washers.
- GPO-3 (UL Listed file# E132409) – For applications requiring a high degree of flame retardancy and electrical properties (fire retardant and arc/track resistant)
- 2000 – UL94V-0 fire rating for 0.031"(1/32") and thicker
- 3000 – UL94V-0 fire rating for 0.055" (1/16") and thicker
- 4000 – NEMA grade, UL94V-0 fire rating for 0.125" (1/8") and thicker
- MB2200FS – UL94V-0 fire rating for 0.031" (1/32") and thicker
- 1030 HT, (UL Listed file# E136182) – High Temperature laminate with excellent mechanical and electrical properties for service temperatures in the 200° C to 220° C range, such as dry transformers.
- Class 180C, 220C, 1050 Wedge – High Temperature and High Strength electrical grade laminate with excellent mechanical and electrical properties designed for use as motor wedges. Approved for OEM use by GE Industrial & GE Hydro.
- 1090 – Semi-Conductive - Electrical grade laminate with excellent mechanical and semi-conductive electrical properties. Designed to provide a pathway for dissipating static charge and to prevent flash over. Approved for OEM use by GE Industrial & GE Hydro.

- 1 million volt bushing arrangement for a pollution test laboratory at IREQ (Institut de recherche de l”Hydro-Quebec).
- The white porcelain bushing is located inside the pollution chamber because only a bushing having a long creepage path (i.e many sheds) can operate in the severe environment that exists there. The red bushing, made of Protectolite™ electrical grade sheet, is located outside the pollution chamber and it does not need any sheds because it operates in a clean air environment.
FRP electrical enclosures
Protectolite™ Inc.'s custom fabricated FRP electrical enclosures are used in remote site locations for reactors. These items are fabricated in our plant using Series 1020UV, 1020P sheet & pultruded shapes.
